On December 2, 2015 the city of Boca Raton held its 45th annual Holiday Parade. It’s a wonderful tradition where city residents turn out to see the mix of bands, floats, fancy cars, horses and juggler’s who take part in this small town feeling spectacle. Additionally, many families have kids participating in the parade with numerous schools and organizations involved. Interestingly, there were 11 marching bands this year.
Although the skies were threatening and there was a brief passing shower at the outset, everyone seemed to have a really great time. The parade began with runners and joggers, followed by local police and firefighters leading the way.
The parade route runs north along Federal Highway from Camino Real to Glades Road. Street closures begin around 5:30, leaving time for those who work in downtown Boca (and who aren’t looking to hang around) time to wrap up their workday and head home. The floats began rolling just after 7pm and concluded around 9.
There are viewing stands (temporary bleachers) set up on the route, with the largest one sitting right in front of Sanborn Square, just north of Palmetto Park Road and south of Mizner Park.
Can’t wait for next year!
