The Boca Raton Public Library has two convenient locations. One is at 1501 NW Spanish River Blvd and the downtown branch is at 400 NW 2nd Ave. Both are quite new with Spanish River being built in 2008 while the new downtown library was finished in 2013. The original, downtown branch which is a block to the south was built in 1962 and improved upon several times over the years. The building is now used by Boca Raton’s city services. It’s directly across the street from City Hall.
The hours for both libraries are: Monday – Thursday: 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Friday – Sunday 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
The Spanish RIver Library is located adjacent to Boca’s Blue Lake corporate complex; originally the home of IBM’s personal computer division. It’s sits on a man-made lake with a beautiful indoor meeting / banquet room and an outdoor area that’s ideal for hosting a wedding, bnai mitzvah or any other special event.
In the Fall of 2015 the Discover Studio opened in the downtown library. It aims to teach emerging technologies like 3d printing, audio podcasting and music production. It’s a great environment to stimulate a zeal for curious learning in kids.
To obtain a library card you’ll have to show a picture ID and a piece of mail that proves you are a city of Boca Raton resident with your name and address on it. There is no charge for the library card or the use of the library apart from room rental fees and computer lab for non-card-holders (a computer card costs $5).
